How to convert N Gauge Bachmann GE Dash 8-40C CTX to DCC

This guide covers the Bachmann USA GE Dash 8-40C models:

• Bachmann Bachmann USA GE Dash 8-40C in CTX livery (7598)
• Bachmann Bachmann USA GE Dash 8-40C in CTX livery (7654)

It may also be suitable for other models with a similar chassis and motor arrangement made by Bachmann USA.

Step 1 - Remove Body

Remove the body by pushing gently upwards.

Step 2 - Remove DC Bridge

Locate the two metal clips at the edge of the PCB. They are essentially bridging the connections so that the model works on DC.

Remove both clips by pushing them sideways, this will reveal seven solder pads.

Step 3 - Connect Decoder

Connect the decoder by soldering the wires to the solder pads following the digram.

Some versions of the model only have a light at one end, in which case you can leave the second lighting pad disconnected if you prefer.

The decoder can be located under the PCB, be sure to make sure it is insulated with some kapton tape or shrink sleeving.

Step 4 - Refit Body

Refit the body and the conversion is complete.
