This guide covers the following models:

  • Dapol 14XX 1462 in BR lined green (ND016)

Step 1 - Remove body

Remove the two small screws from underneath the loco. Take the underframe off, being careful with the two metal pipe details parts. These can actually be removed if you prefer before disassembly.

Using a very small screwdriver, remove the screw inside the chimney. The boiler section will now come off.

Step 3 - Connect Decoder

Solder the red/black wires from the decoder to the corresponding pickup wires. Put a piece of shrink sleeving on the joins. If you prefer (and to avoid needing the joins) you can remove the factory pickup wires instead and run brand new wires from the decoder directly to the pickup contacts.

Solder the orange and grey wires from the decoder to the motor.
