This guide shows how to install the Kato FL12 lighting function decoder into the driving cars of the Kato N Gauge Class 800 models.

This guide covers all versions of the Kato N Gauge Class 800 models, which are identical other than the liveries applied:

Step 1 - Remove Decoder Cover

Turn the driving car upside down and unclip the cover.

Step 2 - Fit Decoder

Orientate the decoder so that the side with two contact points at the top and bottom is showing, and the small black chip is towards the back of the model.

Slide the decoder in, making sure it goes all the way in and that it is over the copper spring, not below.

Step 3 - Refit Decoder Cover

Clip the decoder cover back on, and test it on your programming track.
