How to convert OO Gauge Triang L1 Class to DCC

Get your model DCC converted from £45.00

This guide covers a variation of the Triang OO gauge steam loco models, for example:

  • Triang OO Gauge L1 Class 31757

It may also be suitable for other models with a similar chassis and motor arrangement.

Step 1 - Fit Decoder

Remove the body by unclipping at the back just below the cab, and pushing upwards.

Remove the wire from the chassis to one of the motor pickups.

Remove the old insulating sleeve from the motor pickup spring, and replace with new shrink sleeving. Also add shrink sleeving to the other side of the spring, so that the motor brushes are effectively isolation from everythin else.

Solder the orange and grey wires from the decoder to the top of the motor brush contacts.

Join the brown chassis wire to the decoder red wire, then solder the decoder black wire to the contact at the back of the chassis.

The decoder will fit inside the smoke box.
