How to convert N Gauge Dapol Class 122 to DCC Sound

Get your model DCC sound converted from £50.00

This guide covers the Dapol Class 122 models with the Next18 DCC socket, for example:

  • Dapol Class 122 E55012 in BR Green with whiskers (2D-015-004)
  • Dapol Class 122 M55004 in BR Blue/Grey (2D-015-005)
  • Dapol Class 122 M55006 in BR Blue (2D-015-006)

It may also be suitable for other similar models, such as the older version with 6-pin decoder sockets.

Step 1 - Prepare Decoder

The decoder used in this conversion is a Zimo MS450. First, solder the stayalive PCB wires to the decoder. Solder two further wires from the stayalive PCB to the capacitors.

Here, two capacitors are connected in series to provide a little extra power.
